Frequently Asked Questions

1. As a small merchant, what is the best way to start offering Visa payments to my customers?

Visa has teamed up with a selection of payment service providers and acquirers who are passionate to help small merchants start accepting Visa transactions at your stores. We encourage you to get in touch with them to find out more.

2. How do I get a payment terminal set up in my store to start accepting Visa transactions?

The process is straightforward. First, you need to sign a merchant agreement with a payment service provider. To do this, they will collect some information about your business, e.g. business registration document, annual returns and photos of your stores, and your bank details so they can deposit money into your account. The payment service provider will then arrange to have a payment terminal delivered and set up in your store(s), and will provide training for you and your staff on how to operate it. Please also remember to put up the Visa sign prominently at your store front and payment counter to let customers know they can start paying with Visa.

3. How long does the process usually take?

We expect you will be up and running in days once the merchant agreement is signed. We know the demand for Visa payment from small merchants is high, so sometimes it will take longer, so please start reaching out to your preferred payment service provider now.

4. When I have issues with or questions about the payment terminal device, who should I reach out to?

Operating the payment terminal should be very straightforward, but we understand it is reassuring to have support on hand when issues arise. Please call your payment service provider support hotline for any questions and issues regarding your Visa payment terminal.

5. How long does it take for payments to be deposited in to my account?

We understand cash flow is very important for small businesses, and that is why our payment service providers can settle and deposit funds into your account in few days. Actual settlement lead-time differs by provider and merchant, so please contact your payment service provider for more details.

6. What are the charges for accepting Visa transactions?

The payment service providers offers competitive pricing depending on your needs. Please contact them for details.
