One in three Hong Kongers opt for more short overseas trips
Visa brings a myriad of offers for Hong Kong foodies and shoppers in Taiwan
Hong Kong travelers are taking shorter and more frequent trips than in previous years, with more than one in three trips are short getaways of 3-4 nights (36 percent of trips), according to the latest Visa Global Travel Intentions Study1 (GTI). With National Day holiday just around the corner, now is the time to map out your long-weekend getaway.
The GTI study shows that Hong Kongers’ Top Three Destinations are all about or within five hours. Taiwan is the third most popular destination among Hong Kong travelers for the next two years (8 percent), trailing only Japan (36 percent) and South Korea (10 percent). The frequency of travel is also higher in the past two years at 3.6 trips per year as of 2017, compared to 3 in 2015, when the previous GTI Study was conducted. That is one more trip compared to the Asia Pacific and global averages.
As a foodie paradise and a short hop away, it is not difficult to guess why Taiwan is a favourite short getaway among Hong Kongers. That is why Visa wants to highlight a series of offers that Visa cardholders from Hong Kong can enjoy.
Here is part of the Visa cardholder’s exclusive benefits in Taiwan#:
Ten Ren cha FOR TEA
Top One Pot
Jiu Zhen Nan Bakery
Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Department Store
