Visa, the world’s leader in digital payments, today announced its support for MTR Corporation as MTR newly launches contactless bank card payments. Local passengers and inbound travellers will be able to use this new service with Visa starting from today (December 23) at designated gates wrapped in light blue by tapping their contactless credit card, debit card or payment-enabled devices such as smartphones and smart watches on the credit card readers when riding the MTR.

On the first day of this payment launch, Visa collaborated with local cultural enterprise Walk in Hong Kong to organise a special walking tour for inbound travellers to learn about the fascinating stories of Hong Kong Island, and experience the convenience of travelling in the city as one of the highlights. The tour will enlighten inbound travellers of deep-rooted history and culture, while promoting the use of universally consistent payment methods locally.
